# Atman Theatre School

> A rooftop theatre collective in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. We run workshops, ensemble training, and intimate performances that use theatre as a tool for self-discovery, emotional intelligence, and human expression.

Atman Theatre School was founded in 2024 by Sritej Bhatt. The name "Atman" comes from Sanskrit, meaning the self or soul. The school operates from an open-air rooftop venue in Gulbai Tekra, Ahmedabad — the space is considered an active character in the work, not just a setting.

Atman is not a conventional acting school. The ethos centres on play, collaboration, and vulnerability as pathways to personal discovery. Participants shed inhibitions through ensemble work and learn to think spontaneously. The school trains children, youth, and adults, and also runs corporate learning and development programmes.

## Founder

**Sritej Bhatt** — Founder and Artistic Director
Sritej has 15+ years of active theatre experience, starting at CEPT University (Ahmedabad) where he created sets and acted in plays. He has led theatre groups from training through to staging full productions, studied at HFT Stuttgart (Germany), and designed an exhibition on global education systems. He has formally trained at Duende School of Ensemble Physical Theatre and Drama School Mumbai. As a facilitator, he has worked with students at CEPT University, Nirma University, SAL School of Architecture, The International School of Thrissur, and others.

## What We Offer

### Workshops
- **Theatre and Improv — Level 1 (Edition 19):** A 4-week beginner-friendly programme running Monday & Wednesday evenings, 7:30–9:30 pm. Fees: ₹6,500 (Early Bird: ₹4,500). Covers spontaneous thinking, stage fear, and character creation.
- **Adults & Youth Improv:** Ongoing batches for various age groups including a dedicated ladies batch. Contact for timings.
- **Corporate Training (L&D):** Bespoke theatre-based learning and development for organisations. Past clients include Tata Steel, Edelweiss, Genpact, TCS, and Times Internet.

### Performances
Atman stages intimate rooftop performances with seating limited to ~40 to preserve the relationship between performer and audience. Past productions include:
